Level 3 Aromatherapy Course

The Aromatherapy course is a comprehensive course that meets National Occupational Standards (NOS).This means you can be confident in the knowledge that the content and hours spent studying on this course meets the required level to gain a fully recognisable qualification. Upon completion of this course you will be able to join the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) or the International Guild of Complementary Therapists (IGCT).

Aromatherapy is the systematic use of essential oils and absolutes in holistic treatments to improve physical and emotional well being. Aromatherapy treatments can include massage, inhalation, waterborne methods and compresses.

You will receive nine fully supported training days – these will be spread out giving you plenty of time to practice your skills and complete your case studies, plus an assessment day.

Course Duration

Nine days of training plus an assessment day,

Starting at 10:30am finishing at 4.00pm

This will take a minimum of six months to complete.

Course Content

  • As set out by The National Occupational Standards

  • Principles and practices of complementary therapies

  • Business practice for complementary therapists

  • FHT Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathologies. Completed online. RLH 90

  • Provide aromatherapy for complementary therapies

  • To include:

  • Profiles of 42 essential oils

  • Profiles of 10 carrier oils

  • Full aromatherapy massage routine

  • Alternative use of essential oils to include nasal inhalers, diffusers, bath oils/salts, rollerball application, inhalations, compresses and skincare

  • Case studies and reflective practice

Qualification Gained

FHT level 3 Diploma in Aromatherapy

Assessment methods

Students will be assessed in a range of outcomes as set out in the NOS assessment criteria.

  • Practical assessments: These are on going with guidance given to you from your tutor. Final assessment completed on assessment day.

  • Case studies and reflective practice :You need to have evidence of at least 60 treatments consisting of the following:

    • Aromatherapy massage-minimum of 36 treatments (6 clients, 6 treatments)

    • 15 one off treatments

    • Other methods of application- minimum of 9 treatments-compresses, inhalations etc


Pre requisite

Students must be over 18.

A good standard of written and verbal English.

Or £295 deposit followed by 7 x £100 monthly instalments.
